This is the time to RELAX and RENEW the mind which will allow you to have a clear understanding of your inner being.
These
are challenging times that we are facing. We receive negative
information and images on a daily basis. Whether it's radio,
television, or water cooler gossip. Our minds receive the information
and many times process it into fear, concern, worries, etc. Thus,
leaving the mind weighed down with an inconceivable amount of negative
thoughts.
De-Stress Me Please!
Just as there are various types of
personalities, there are also different ways people take time for self.
Here are a few ideas to get you started:
- Prayer - taking time to pray is a great way to release negative thoughts and replace them with healing words.
- Focus quietly on a scripture - if there is a scripture from the Bible that gives you peace, read it aloud or to yourself.
- Group reflection - join a group
that practices mind renewal exercises, meditation or any type of
contemplation. You may enjoy being with others as you begin this

- Yoga, Pilates, Tai Chi - these type of healing excersises reduce stress and quiet the mind.
- A Simple Walk Outside - plan a walk or hike on your favorite trail, park or a simple neighborhood walk.
- Listen to Nature - find a quiet place outside and listen to the birds. Or purchase a white noise CD.
- Listen to calming music - sit
quietly with slow tempo music surrounding you as you close your eyes
and relax. Or go for a nice quiet drive alone with down tempo music

How To Begin
- Plan for time that you will utilize
for self. Choose an activity listed above or something that you enjoy
doing. Whether its going for a walk alone, listening to downtempo
music, or listening to the birds, biking, etc.
- Once you are armed with your chosen activity it's time to move and shake and enjoy your activity.
Length of Time
Start with 5 minutes a day if possible or a few times a week. Enjoy your time and make it a part of your routine.
Find activities that are free from any other distraction to the mind, and it will be effective.
A renewed mind improves your life and attitude. Take time for self and
feed the mind with positive thoughts, and adopt a new way of thinking.
